Where has the time gone?
Where has the time gone? I remember being little and not having to worry about time. Now I worry about all the time. I feel so overwelmed that on days I just want to quit life. I have a friend who was getting burned out, left and right I see kids who are burning out. I found out that i get about 5 hours of sleep during the weekday. So this is my question, do we (teenagers) have to much to do? Are we killing ourselves because we overload our lives. Are we screwing ourselves over because what we are doing. And if so, are you adults the reason why we are doing it?

i do not think that the question "are teenagers over-working themselves?" is a yes or no question.
- some of us don't do what we need to do and waste our time doing trivial things. then we feel weighted down by all the things we put off till the last minute while we had fun.
- some of us put too much on our plate, and then we can't handle it. but we force ourselves to get by. usually in doing this we neglect certain important aspects of our lives like sleep, our relationship with God(if we have one), our social life, our family time, etc.
- then there are the few who properly manage their time by knowing what they can handle, and working within that boundary.
this last ideal way of managing your time can be extremely difficult to obtain. some of us need part time jobs in order to save money for college. Then there's school, church, social life, family, etc. and the list can get pretty long.
so where does that leave us?
i don't know.
are we just suppose to do our best?
This is kinda what this post was about: In todays world, I should be playing a sport, have a job, applyed for 5 schools, community service, homework, church, and getting A's. That is what colleges are looking for, and we need to go college. (ha) So that doesn't leave time for much eles. I don't have time to really do what I want. So here I am 17 years old and having the workload of an adult. This is point: Am teenagers being forced to grow, are we being forced to take to much?
i don't think at age 17 having the workload of an adult is a bad thing. and i don't think we were/are forced to grow/take on more work. for example, i haven't been forced to participate on wednesday nights, and i don't think you(a.ha) are forced to attend NJROTC.
to mr. john:
I think you have simplified or misunderstood the issue.
wasting time on trivial things is not the same as procrastination. some of the seemingly trivial things can be the most important. for example that time you hung out with friends, that time you played monopoly with your family, that time you built a tree house. those i think are all important, yet could be considered trivial.
and the real question is... why would someone put to much on his/her plate? why are we compelled to take on so much. a.ha suspects adults, you suspect foolishness. I tend to agree with you. it is foolish to take on more than we can handle.
when it comes down to it your main argument was "are we just suppose to do our best?" well.. what does is doing our best mean? I would argue that those taking on to much are still trying their best. or does doing our best refer to time management?
on a second thought:
we are on the edge of adulthood. no longer can we call our parents when we lock the keys in the car, no longer can we rely on our parents for money, no longer will we have them looking over our shoulder checking up on us.
adulthood and independence sucks. but it is a reality we need to face. so I try my best to be independent now, and learn the lessons before i'm on my own.
