The good, the bad, and the ugly

So I like football. I mean I really like football. I love to watch and really regret not playing it in high school. But I'm really looking forward to Nov.4. All you football ball fans will know that this is the day that the colts meet the patriots, in whats being called the best football game of the regular season ever. And I think one of the reasons that this game is so big is that its pretty much good vs. evil.
The Colts are the good and here's why.
team:defending champs but are really humble.
Star: Peyton Manning is in like a thousand commercials but still pokes fun at himself and is a family guy, who hasn't missed a thanksgiving game with his family ever.
Coach: Never gets mad, has never cussed at his players, is honest, and is graceful in defeat.

Now the bad. (patriots)
Team: The team is all about themselves, they complain that they don't get enough praise.
Star: Tom Brady all about himself, never does any charity work and goes form one supermodel to another like this (snap) Other words prideful.
Coach. Freaks out at every loss, and the worst thing, running up the score.

and the ugly. Can you believe how bad the Rams are doing this year, my prediction: one win for rams, two wins for Miami. and norv Turner gets fired.
So Nov. 4 I'm going for the good guys and hoping for the colts.

Also this is opinion boy for today. (that is also starting up)

I hope the Patriots win and I for one hope they run up the score to 100 on some team (Miami in Foxboro later this year?) in a game. Here is my reason why:

1) They won three Super Bowls and then when "cameragate" came out everyone was calling them out claiming they were these big cheaters. First of all, we know that almost every team does this (why do you think Holmgren and Reid and every other coach in the league covers his mouth when calling plays in EVERY game, not just against the Colts). So all these teams took the opportunity to pile on the Patriots when they have plenty of their own dirty laundry.

2) People like LaDanian Tomlison calling out the Patriots claiming they were cheaters. Wait a minute, wasn't it your star middle linebacker and best bud Shawn Merriman that spent 6 weeks last season suspended because of steroid use? All of these athletes are a bunch of hypocrites.

3) While you knock Belicek as "bad" for being competitive and not being satisfied with ANY level of performance isn't that what sports is all about? You play to win, anything else should be unacceptable. They have created a culture that players (even bad attitude guys like Moss or Dillon) come in and excel. Thats the sign of a good team.

4) We are in the time of perpetual putridity. With the salary cap there are no great teams anymore. No one can afford to keep all their stars so it creates all this parity in the league. Parity is nice, but it is fun to see teams like the Steel Curtain or the 85 Bears or the Cowboys of the 90's come along and roll over everybody. Normally I root against those guys, but it has been so long since we had a true "bad guys cause they win all the time" in sports that it's nice to finally have someone doing it. To be doing it in the salary cap era is even more impressive.

5) I am rooting for the Patriots to win every game this year, go undefeated, and run up the score in every game. I would love to see them score 100 points, that would be AWESOME. So while I normally hate all Boston teams, and I would normally root against the Patriots I am rooting for them this year (but not this week, they play the Redskins this week :p) just because we need more bad guys.

6) Also, I think Peyton Manning is a whore. And I mean that quite literally, the guy will sell himself for anything for the right price. Thats the definition of a whore. I can't respect a whore.

A-Ha!

sports aside, i'm no jock, nor do i know much about or have the capacity for the knowledge of sports...

i must say that i'm very proud of you for seeing a value-system that is based on nobility, character and virtues as opposed to outward show. i don't know about any of the details, but the way you are portraying your personal reasons for defining "good team" and "evil team" is based on another layer of thought.

it's so popular today to look at the outward appearances of people/teams/actors/etc.
but we know that god looks at the heart. [david vs saul]
i know you can't see the heart or the "behind the scenes corruption" that ryan speaks of, but i appreciate your attitude here a-ha.
it's counter-cultural.

keep it up.

Alright Ryan lets go.

1. I will not doubt that they are the better team. I think that the Pats are the best team in the NFL. Colts are second, no if ands or buts. Pats will probably beat the colts, but regard less it will be a great game.

2. It will be a great game, not just because of the players, but because of the hype. What hype? The hype of having 3 time champs playing against 1 time champ who is the underdog.

3. Also I think that Belicek is the best coach in football right now. Again no ifs ands or buts. But!, what about last year when Belicek Didn't even talk to his old asst. coach after the game? Was that sportsman like? What about all the kids who are watching the pats, saying wow I want to be just like them, they win. When they are displaying factors that no parent wants their kid to display. I always have been told that when you win do so humbling because one day you might be their too. So here's the kids seeing Belicek not even acknowledging other coaches, you want them to imitate him. I'm sorry but when (if) I become a parent I don't want my kid to be a "bad kid", who doesn't show sportsman ship, I want my kid to be a good kid, and use the example of the colts to help see that sometimes even champs are humble.

So in ten years down the line and my kid asked me "Dad who did you like better the 2007 colts or Pats) I will look at him/her, and realizing that they need/should learn about sportsmanship, will reply, I always liked the colts, and here's the reasons why...

one more thing Ryan, I noticed that you did not deny that colts were the "good" team and that the pats were the "bad" team, in fact you were very defensive about the pats, why?

It would have nothing to do with the fact that the touchdown throwing machine that is Tom Brady is my fantasy quarterback... nothing at all...
